Serenity

It seems we've had an explosion of color at Aunt Henri lately. As beautiful as it's been, we've found a much needed oasis of serenity in this tranquil collection from the ever lovely Gerri Robinson of Planted Seed Designs™.

Aptly titled Serenity, this fabric from Riley Blake Designs is a fantastic addition to any home with a modern neutral color scheme.

We chose to work with a 10" Stacker this time and made a set of Dresden Plate chargers for an elegant place setting.

We wanted a softer curve to the edge of our plate so we drafted our own template which you can download here:

The template will make a 15" Dresden which is the perfect size to act as a charger beneath your best china.

A 10" Stacker will make 14 blocks, which makes for great gift potential. Here's the layout we used:

Since these weren't going to be everyday place mats we opted to line them with linen and skip the batting and quilting.

Our centers were secured with an ivory thread but then embellished with a couple rows of black decorative stitching.

Doesn't it look a bit like a doily?

As for our napkins, Gerri has a gorgeous fabric Cream Serenity Border Print that has a vintage lace design! It reminds us of bridal lace or table cloth lace and we can think of so many uses for it, starting with a table cloth border!

It made such an elegant napkin we didn't even bother with the napkin folding book this time.

We sure hope Serenity inspires you to make something--especially since those holidays are right around the corner!

Happy Sewing.
